Destiny players hoping for another update to the first-person shooter are out of luck, as developer Bungie said that no more updates will be coming to Destiny.

Bungie has long promoted the Age of Triumph update, released in March, as the final one for Destiny. It seems that the developer is not changing its mind about it.

No More 'Destiny' Updates

"We've heard many of you asking if the current sandbox will get another design pass," said Bungie in its weekly update.

"Our sole focus at this time is Destiny 2," the developer added, crushing rumors that Bungie will release one more update for the game before its sequel is released in September.

The sandbox that Bungie mentioned refers to the overall meta or balance of the game, including the characteristics of the subclasses, abilities, weapons, and armor in the game. With the sandbox not changing, the current Destiny experience is likely how it will remain for the foreseeable future.

That, however, is a problem for certain players, especially those who love special ammo. This is because, in February, Bungie made an adjustment in Destiny's Crucible matches so that players spawned carrying special ammo, but lose all of them upon dying. To gain more special ammo, players need to vigilantly hunt ammo crates, which only appear once per minute.

Some players are also complaining about balance issues on sidearms, along with Ice Breaker and No Land Beyond, which is a pair of sniper rifles. Pulse rifles and hand cannons, meanwhile, will likely continue as the most popular primary weapons in the player vs. player mode.

There are also some bugs that have appeared in raids, though that would be a less important matter. Grinding for weapons and armor has become an afterthought since Bungie announced that Destiny players will not be able to carry over their gear into Destiny 2.

The words "at this time" leaves the possibility that Bungie will revisit Destiny and apply updates after getting the sequel out, but that may be just wishful thinking for players who do not want to start from scratch in Destiny 2.

Bungie To Focus On 'Destiny 2'

With the launch of Destiny 2 just three months away, it makes sense that Bungie is focusing all of its resources in preparing the upcoming title for its release.

Bungie featured the first mission of Destiny 2 in a gameplay video revealed last month, alongside new skills that players will have access to and new worlds to explore. There were also several significant changes compared to the first game, including a reduction of Crucible team size to four members, the addition of clan-coordinated raids, and streamlined travel to other worlds.

It has also been previously reported that there will again be no dedicated server support for Destiny 2, with the shooter to rely on a combination of client-server and peer-to-peer connections for multiplayer matches.

Destiny 2 is set to be released on Sept. 8 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Bungie is focused on the title, which should be good news for fans looking forward to the game while bad news for gamers who prefer to stay on Destiny.
