The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 filled up the headlines this week, as hype for the smartphone further intensified after the announcement of the smartphone's official launch date.
With the rumor mill constantly churning out tidbits regarding the Galaxy Note 8, we may think that we already know everything there is about the smartphone. However, reports with new information keep coming in, so we will likely not see the whole picture until the Galaxy Note 8 is finally unveiled.
Galaxy Note 8 Launch Date: Aug. 23
The week started off with Samsung Mobile CEO DJ Koh confirming that the Galaxy Note 8 announcement will be in late August, with the smartphone's launch to come in two waves in September and October. The first wave will be in South Korea, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and the second wave will be the global release.
A few days later, Samsung officially announced that it will hold an Unpacked event in New York City on Aug. 23. While the company did not mention the Galaxy Note 8 by name, we can be sure that the event is for the unveiling of the smartphone.
A Closer Look At The Galaxy Note 8
Alleged Galaxy Note 8 renders, meanwhile, provided the clearest look so far at the final design of the device.
The renders did not come directly from Samsung, as they were created by a third-party smartphone case maker based on schematics and details that were leaked from the factory where the Galaxy Note 8 is being assembled.
While we now have a great look at the Galaxy Note 8, there remain some questions, including the purpose of the holes at the top bezel of the device. Two small holes believed to be for the proximity and light sensors in a Galaxy Note 8 case were increased in size In a later version, despite no need for the cutouts to be bigger. Has Samsung successfully kept some new Galaxy Note 8 features a secret?
Galaxy Note 8 Bixby
Samsung's digital assistant, Bixby, will be integrated into the Galaxy Note 8, but a report claimed that the company is also working on a Bixby-powered Bluetooth headset that may be bundled with the smartphone.
The headset will make it easier for users to communicate with Bixby, and will look to challenge Apple's AirPods.
Galaxy Note 8 Colors
The latest rumor about the Galaxy Note 8 comes from well-known leaker Roland Quandt, who claims that the Galaxy Note 8 will come in color options of Orchid Gray, Deep Blue, and Black.
Quandt also hinted that there might be more Galaxy Note 8 colors coming in the future.
