Making a splash in the virtual reality market is quite difficult, given the riotous yet slow adoption of VR headsets — in large part because they're still pretty expensive — but Sony still thinks it's a tappable market, and for good reason.

It's already sold more than a million of its PlayStation VR headsets, frankly quite a surprising achievement. So now it needs to make more games for it, while also convincing non-VR users to jump into the PSVR bandwagon. What better way to do that than bundling Skyrim with its new and improved VR headset?

Sony Announces 'Skyrim VR' Bundle

On Nov. 17, players will be able to pick up a new bundle from Sony that includes a copy of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR, a pair of Move controllers, a PlayStation Camera, a demo disc containing 13 VR games, and its new-generation PSVR headset — for $450.

Check out the official packaging below:

Skyrim is celebrating its seventh birthday on Nov. 11, so the bundle comes at an opportune time both for players who have never played it before in their life and also loaded gamers who'll happily throw cash at Bethesda for a VR iteration of their favorite open-world RPG.

Those who don't care much for Sony's VR headset or VR in general can opt instead for the Nintendo Switch version, also launching the same day as the PSVR bundle.

Purchased separately, the PSVR and PS Camera cost $400. The PSVR originally retailed for the same price, but not including the camera, a peripheral required to play VR games on the headset. Sony later slashed the price and even offered a $450 bundle that includes the headset, camera, Move controllers, and PlayStation VR Worlds.

Skyrim VR

Skyrim VR contains the entire The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim game, optimized for VR play. It also comes with the game's three add-ons: Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn, which have been remastered for VR. It was unveiled at E3 earlier this year. Bethesda is also working on an HTC Vive port, but has not given any hints on when that'll come out.

Gamespot has uploaded a half-hour's worth of gameplay footage showing Skyrim VR in its gritty glory. Tamriel looks absolutely terrifying and gorgeous at the same time on VR. It'll make any Skyrim fan salivate, that's for certain.
