Some "loyal" Nexus owners are apparently getting emails from Google, with a 20 percent discount for the new Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL.

Google's latest Pixel smartphones are considered among the best Android smartphones currently available on the market, packing solid specs and features and offering a pure Android experience.

However, while Nexus devices used to be more affordable, Pixels are more expensive and the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL require notable investments. Based on user reports, some Nexus owners are in luck.

Google Pixel 2 And Pixel 2 XL Discount

To show its appreciation for loyal customers, Google has been sending out e-mails to select Nexus owners informing them that they can get a new Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL at 20 percent off, as long as they purchase it through the Google Store.

This 20 percent discount would translate to a price tag of roughly $520 for the Google Pixel 2 with 64 GB of native storage space, and $680 for the Pixel 2 XL with 64 GB of storage. The deal is likely available for all configurations of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones.

To take advantage of this offer, however, the specific e-mail from Google is essential. The deal does not involve any special coupon or promotional code that might be forwarded to someone else and just applied at checkout. This 20 percent discount for loyal Nexus owners goes into effect upon clicking the "Shop Now" link in the email, which takes them to the Google Store.

Google Rewards Loyal Nexus Owners

It remains unclear at this point how many Nexus owners can benefit from this deal, or what criteria Google used to determine which Nexus owners are loyal. The discount could either be available for all those who purchased a Nexus device through the Google Store, to select Nexus owners or to those who purchased more than one Nexus device. Until Google clarifies this, there's no way to tell.

Those who do get the special e-mail with the 20 percent discount will have until the end of this month to take advantage of this deal. Otherwise, the offer will expire after Feb. 28. Those who didn't get the e-mail might want to check their spam folders as well, as the message could accidentally skip the inbox.

If you have one or more Nexus devices, did you get such an email from Google? If so, are you planning to take advantage of this offer to upgrade to the Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL? Let us know in the comments section below.
