The newest update to the Xim app of Microsoft adds more compatible devices to the photo-sharing service, making the experience more awesome than ever. Fans of the app can now start sharing photos from any of their mobile devices to virtually any TV. This includes the web, Apple TV, Xbox One, Chromecast, Fire TV and Fire TV Stick.

Since the app's release in mid-October, it has always been ranked as one of the top Android and Windows Phone apps. Its latest 1.3 release makes the photo sharing experience even bigger as users now have the ability to share pictures synchronously using their mobile phones and their living room TVs.

"Xim enables a unique synchronous experience for people to enjoy whether they are together in the same room or together remotely; whether on their phones or with our release today of Xim 1.3, on their TVs," wrote Colleen Estrada, Director of Experience Design at Microsoft FUSE Labs.

The initial idea behind Xim is to share photos with friends with each one viewing the photos on their own device. Photos are shared through cloud-based slideshows which can be accessed temporarily. This means that the experience can be made whether the viewers are physically in the same location or in other time zones.

Xim eliminates the old school sharing of having to huddle around a small screen. Once the photo sharing act begins, friends can start swiping and zooming photos together. Everyone stays in sync which can also be fun as no one will surely be left out and no conversation will have to be missed.

One of the best things about Xim is that only one person needs to have the app installed on his device to begin the photo sharing experience. Friends can be invited to the slideshow by sending invitation to one's phone contacts either by email or by a phone number.

Photos that can be shared can come from one's camera, Facebook, OneDrive, and Dropbox. Moreover, photos can be mixed and matched easily from any of the sources.

"I and my team mates are inspired by the challenge to improve everyday moments, and Xim does just that for photos, but is poised to do much more - there's some powerful tech underpinning this delightful experience," added Estrada.

The app, together with its update, can now be downloaded on a Windows Phone and devices that are running on Android and iOS.
