Chevrolet has recently taken the 2019 Corvette ZR1 for a spin on a German racetrack, which is often used by cars to showcase their maximum velocity.

Chevrolet released a new video that drops one inside a Corvette ZR1 as it verifies its top speed at a racetrack in Papenburg, Germany.

Watch The Corvette ZR1 Achieve A Top Speed Of 212 MPH

The video, filled from end to end with the track flying past, also displays the real-time speed of the Corvette ZR1 at the top, as well as an in-car view at the bottom right corner in addition to the rpm and gear selection on the opposite end.

The sports car makes two runs around the oval-shaped track: one against the direction of the wind and one with the wind. The average of both runs is the ZR1's top speed.

The direction of the wind can significantly affect a car's top speed, particularly when it is measured to the hundredth of a mile per hour. It is also the most effective and accurate method of measuring a car's top speed.

The ZR1 clocked in 214.88 mph in seventh gear at approximately 5,400 rpm during the first run. However, the second run slowed the supercar down to 210.20 mph, at about 5,300 rpm in seventh gear. It brings the supercar's average top speed to 212 mph, making it the fastest Corvette ever produced by Chevy.

Earlier this year, the ZR1 broke a lap record at Virginia International Raceway, which was previously held by Ford GT. It completed the 4.1-mile track only within two minutes and 37 seconds.

Corvette ZR1 Specs And Pricing

The ZR1's 212mph top speed does not come as a surprise, however. The vehicle is powered by a 6.2-litre LT5 supercharged small blockV8 engine that is capable of grinding out 755 horsepower and a 715 lb-ft of torque, which allows the car to go from zero to 60mp in just 2.8 seconds.

The ZR1 is considerably more powerful than the Z06, which only has a maximum horsepower of 650hp and torque of 650 lb-ft. Not only is the ZR1 the fastest and loudest Vette ever produced, but it's also the priciest of all the Corvette models.

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 arrives this spring with a starting price of $121,000 and goes up to as much as $140,000. Although the production will not be limited, General Motors plans to make only 2,000 to 3,000 units of the supercar.
