Many would not consider a talking puppet to be a great navigator. Still, you could make Cookie Monster from Sesame Street help you get to places.

Thanks to the Waze app, you could now have Cookie Monster guide you through the busy roads in your trips. The shaggy blue puppet could give directions and driving notifications, just like any other voice in the Waze app.

Back For a Limited Time Only

This isn't actually the first time Cookie Monster's voice was on the app. Last June, Waze partnered with Sesame Street in celebration of the show's 50th Anniversary. During the celebration, 10 different US cities were featured on road trips, guiding drivers to places where they could bring their kids to have fun.

During this partnership, Sesame Street characters populated the screen's dashboard with cartoony "Moods." For a limited time, US drivers were able to get Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Oscar, the Grouch, to appear on their Waze apps. During this time, drivers could get directions to go to Sesame Streeta street renamed in honor of the show, located at Broadway.

Cookie Monster's voice would later be added to the app, offering grammatically incorrect but adorable side comments while driving. However, just like other character voices on the app, the muppet's voice was only available for a short period of time.

Last Nov. 2, in celebration of Cookie Monster's birthday, Waze decided to bring back the blue Muppet's voice to people's devices in select US locations.

The muppet's adorable voice, according to Waze, was one of the app's most downloaded voices ever, which gave them more reason to bring Cookie Monster back.

Other Cool Voices

Waze offers different other cool options for their voices. If their default voice isn't your type, you could have characters like KFC's Colonel Sanders, veteran actor Morgan Freeman, and even actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger to give you directions while driving.

Although Waze adds a great variety of voices in the app, they don't usually last long. Be sure always to check out who's in store every now and then.

To find other voices, first of all, you have to install the Waze up on your iOS or Android device. On the app's dashboard, click the three dots or the magnifying glass—whichever applies to your device. Then click the gears button on the upper left of the screen to open the settings menu. From here, you could choose "Voice & Sound," where you could change the voice giving you directions.

Although character voices aren't always around, there are many other voices you could choose from that have a more or less permanent residency on the app. The English voice features different voices, different accents, and different personalities.

On top of the English language, there's also representation for many different languages around the globe. Simply find your preferred language and download the voice pack to start using it.
