Houston, we have a problem. The upcoming Airpods 3 is rumored to be way more expensive than its predecessor and is dubbed to be the "most expensive AirPods of all." However, the Airpods Max is still creating a buzz online due to the $550 device having problems with condensation build-up. This is argued to be caused by a design flaw that's hard to fix.

Airpods Max Users Complain About Condensation Problem

Airpods Max Owners across different forum platforms are reporting similar problems of condensation build-up in their device. Twitter user Donald Filimon shares an issue where condensation happens after "extended use". According to him, the condensation problem allows water to get inside the drivers that may cause ear problems. He says he only "wears them inside sitting at a desk mainly, nothing serious." The same issue is being tackled by users in MacRumors forum about Airpods Max Condensation Build Up.

This Reddit user says the condensation build up "freaked me out" when the user realized that there's water buildup in the cuffs and the driver as well.

Controversially, Apple did not make the Airpods Pro Max Water resistant, even though it can be predicted that condensation might happen because of the company's decision to use Aluminium ear cups. The explanation to the problem is that since Aluminium is a poor insulator, it creates a condensation issue due to the heat build up from wearing it. Because of the heavy weight of Airpods Max, it even adds more problems. It makes a lot of sense why other non-Apple alternatives intentionally use plastic.

Condensation Problem a Design Issue

With this design problem, there seems to be no easy way to fix it. As of the time being Apple has not publicly released a statement regarding the issue. The best solution that we can get at this point is to take heed from this reddit user's statement:

"I chatted with Apple about the coverage and they also said it's a $29 repair on top of the $59 purchase of the AppleCare. That's $680 with tax where I'm at, for headphones and coverage. She told me to just make sure to wipe them down after every use. And I'm just like - I can get the moisture out of the inside part of the muffs area, but not in the drivers area AT ALL. And that's what worries me. Might just return them and wait for the second gen."

That's a pretty high price to pay for a problem that you didn't sign up for in the first place. But a pretty smart move should be to just wait for the next release and see how it goes. As of the moment, Apple is working on developing their Airpods Pro2 and Airpods 3.
