On the other hand, a smart light allows you to activate it without the need to use a switch. Now, how does a smart light work?

According to LifeWire's latest report, a smart bulb uses wireless communication technologies, such as WiFi, Z-Wave, Zigbee, and Bluetooth.

Consumers can turn them on using their home automation hubs, tablets, smartphones, and other gadgets. But, there are some models that need to have a special gateway, such as the Philips Hue Bridge, before they can be turned on.
This special gateway is a small box that communicates with the smart light so that it can be activated. On the other hand, there are two types of smart bulbs: the white and the colored ones.
The white or traditional smart light can only go between warm and cool tones. Meanwhile, smart bulbs that have LEDs with different colors (red, green, and blue) can offer different dim levels.

CNET reported that there are some things you need to consider before buying smart lights. Right now, most consumers tend to purchase these advanced bulbs in bulk instead of just one.
Since this is the case, you need to check the features, the platform used, and other factors that can make your smart light system more efficient, such as the following:
- Check the wireless communication feature they used. Bluetooth usually works better compared to WiFi since there are some instances when the internet connection is weak.
- Review the platforms your smart lights will rely on, such as Google Assistant, Apple's Siri, and Amazon's Alexa.
- Expect that you'll need a connection hub if you want your smart lights to work properly.
