YouTube app's tone-down version YouTube Go could be no longer accessible soon, according to the latest report.

For those people who have low-end smartphones and other devices that are incapable of achieving good internet speeds, this app is pretty useful since it has a smaller file size compared to the original application.

YouTube Go won't be available anymore starting August.

Having a YouTube Go on a device means that you can watch your favorite clips and streams with just a small amount of data. Removing it will not favor those people who have installed it since the main app consumes more data.

However, the recent report about it suggests that it won't be anymore available in August, per Android Headlines. YouTube confirmed this news and cited that the lite app is about to "sunset" in the next two months.

YouTube Go has been running for almost six years and it's indeed a lifesaver for consumers who want to save mobile data on their devices.

It has been a suitable alternative to the main application especially when the data and power usage in using YouTube had tripled since 2016.

If you're one of the users who will be affected by the phasing out of YouTube Go, the company recommends that users should immediately go back to the original YT app.

Since complaints about its absurd data usage arose a few years ago, YouTube says that it's doing its best to optimize the main app as much as possible.

This means that even those with low-end devices can efficiently use it despite having mediocre hardware. It's clear that YouTube wants its customers to stay on the platform amid the competition with other third-party apps.

Either way, it's a good indication that the users can still run the official YT app even on mid-range phones. Although there's still a lot of optimization to happen, it's now more usable than before.

YouTube Adjusts Live Redirects

It seems that YouTube is seriously taking the competition with Twitch as it recently rolled out the "Live Redirects" feature for creators.

As The Verge reports, the company introduced it with settings to avoid further bot-operated harassment on the platform. In Twitch, the feature is called "raid" wherein audiences flock to the channel and search for new content.

Although it's great that the content creators can benefit from it because of the viewership growth, it still can become a ground for harassment and hate. Since Live Redirects is now live, we'll see later how it will go with the streamers.

In other news, Tech Times previously reported that YouTube Vanced has been cut off by Google because of "legal" reasons. For individuals who want to take advantage of YT Premium's features for free, this go-to app is the answer.

At that time, the developers believed that the tech giant arrived at that decision because it was cracking down on unauthorized apps from third-party creators.

The incident can be compared to what happened to Groovy and Rhythm bots on Discord because of copyright issues.
