On Thursday, Sept. 1, Twitter announced it would be rolling out its edit button feature for Twitter Blue subscribers in the next couple of weeks.

Twitter's Edit Button

According to TechCrunch, the edit button has been the most requested feature on the social media platform, and now it is finally here.

The feature will start with internal testing and will be available to Twitter Blue subscribers soon.

The Twitter Blue subscription is currently only available in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the US, and the platform has not said if it has plans to roll it out to other countries.

For those who will get the edit button, they will get a 30-minute window to update their tweets, and the edited version will have a label showing a timestamp of modification.

Twitter users reading the edited tweet can tap the label to check the editing history. These steps are implemented to prevent some users from misusing the feature.

What is Twitter Blue?

Twitter Blue is the platform's paid subscription allowing you access to new features and 300 news sites without ads.

The service was released in 2021 for $2.99 a month, but in July, the price increased to $4.99, making it 67% more expensive than its original price.

According to CNBC, Twitter Blue allows you to undo a tweet or customize the Twitter app icon. Users from the US can access ad-free articles from more than 300 US-based news sites like The Atlantic, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, and Insider.

Twitter Blue users can also upload videos of up to 10 minutes in length. That is more than the two minutes and 20 seconds limit available to regular Twitter users.

Also, paid subscribers can pin their most important DM conversations to the top of their inboxes.

Other Twitter Updates

Aside from adding more features to Twitter Blue, the platform is also updating the regular app.

According to The Verge, Twitter engineer Jane Manchun Wong said that the platform would put a mark on accounts with a verified phone number.

Wong also noted another test feature showing view counts of tweets, which some users have access to for their own tweets under the label of "analytics." But it is unclear if this would be limited to the author or if all Twitter users will be able to see it.

Twitter allows people to have the same phone number linked to ten different accounts, while developers can label automated accounts to let people know there is no human behind a post.

The social media platform also embraced podcasts with newly updated Spaces. The Spaces tab now has personalized groups with themes for categories such as music, news, and sports.

According to Trusted Reviews, there will be live and recorded episodes in the Spaces tab, and you can play them within the app.

The platform also promises to integrate some of the most popular podcasts from around the world based on the topics popular on the site.
