Huawei is the first smartphone manufacturer in the world to deliver satellite texting capabilities and connections for modern-day gadgets, now arriving with the Mate 50 release of the company. It beat Apple to satellite connections in this new release from the company, with previous leaks claiming that the iPhone is already on its way to deliver for the latest releases of the company.

Huawei unveiled the Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro to the world, and it brings a significant list of features, with one that caught the attention of most tech reviews and analysts in the world.

According to The Verge, this feature is satellite texting, and the capabilities of the Mate 50 lineup to connect to the BeiDou global satellite network, a known Chinese technology. It means that the device can connect to the satellite and expand more of its connectivity, especially to places with no cellular signal.

There is a catch to its satellite texting, as the company said that the Mate 50 will indeed be able to send texts using the Chinese satellites, but there would be no way to receive it from other users.

Huawei Mate 50 is the First Smartphone with Satellite Features

Through the Mate 50's satellite connectivity, users may send short texts to other people and bring communication despite the loss of signal in certain areas. However, it does not end there, as the satellite connectivity for the new Huawei smartphone also brings additional features for navigation, something that would benefit the device's features for far-flung travels.

Apple iPhone's Supposed Satellite Features

Leaks for the famous Cupertino company previously claimed that engineers are already developing the world's first satellite feature for a smartphone, a way to connect to the orbiting connection for their needs. Previous rumors were debunked that this is coming for the iPhone 13, with Apple not releasing any tech of its kind for 2021

However, despite the public not seeing it for last year's iPhone 13, there are many speculations about its arrival for the next release of the company, the iPhone 14 bound for this September. A claim by the famous Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, said that the new satellite feature connections recently finished testing its capabilities, but is unclear regarding its addition to the new smartphone.

Apple's many rumors that will add the satellite feature for the device gave a massive case for its availability to other smartphones, something which Huawei already debuted to the world.

While this new satellite feature for the Mate 50 is not necessarily taking advantage of the entire capabilities of connecting to orbiting technology, it still brings noteworthy features that people may use for emergencies or situations without any signal connection.

It is important to remember that it still does not feature satellite calling and satellite internet connections in the process, but it is a good start for Huawei's tech.
