A recent test found that Windows 11 affects the performance of the AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU. This results in users experiencing slower speeds, especially when gaming.
AMD Ryzen 7000 Users Affected When Using the Windows 11 Operating System
According to the story by Pocket Lint, AMD Ryzen 7000 users might find their computer not functioning as fast as it should have when using the Windows 11 operating system. The difference can be felt, especially when it comes to playing games.
Although the AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU is a very capable processor, it does not function to its fullest when used on Windows 11. This is especially true when it comes to high-speed gaming.
The CPU's Performance was Tested Out by Two Accounts
The performance of the Ryzen 7000 on a Windows 11 was found in tests done by CapFrameX and Hardware Unboxed. Both these accounts shared their results on Twitter, showing how the problem could be the Windows 11 thread scheduler.
The results showed that when running "Metro Exodus," the previous AMD chips could run up to 176 frames per second. This number decreased to 151 frames per second when the Ryuzen 7950 was used.

The Test Involved Making Configurations and Disabling the Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT)
The consensus in the new chip's double Core Compute Die (CCD) configuration resulted in the thread scheduler affecting the frame rates. Testing also found that making the second CCD disabled on the latest chip did nothing to improve the performance a little bit.
Realistically, however, it would be unpractical for owners of flagship CPUs to want to disable parts of the chip. CapFrameX tested it out and found what would happen if users disabled the Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT).
Disabling the SMT Resulted in a Boost in Performance
When the SMT was disabled, the performance was improved yet again. This, however, did not bring the performance that people might expect from AMD's best chips.
Doing the same thing with the single CCD chips reportedly also helps push the performance even further, which points towards the thread scheduler of Microsoft being the culprit on why the performance of the AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs was affected.
Owners and Users Will have to Wait for a Windows 11 Update to Fix the Issue
The article then noted that it all boils down to Microsoft fixing the issue by releasing a Windows 11 patch that could potentially help fix things. As of press time, owners using the AMD Ryzen 7000 chips will have to wait for the update.
The good thing is that those not yet upgraded to Windows 11 could be safe from this issue, and those planning to purchase the AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs can assess whether they want to push through or wait for a potential fix.
