Google Messages' end-to-end encryption feature for group chats seems to be on its way. It looks like the tech giant is testing it to select users.

While Google Messages already offers end-to-end encryption to direct chats, it has yet to bring the privacy-focused option to group chats. And as such, its users in group chats are sending messages without any encryption.
Google Messages End-to-End Encryption on Group Chats Might be on its Way
As per the latest report by the Android Central, it looks like Google is gearing up to release its end-to-end encryption service for group chats anytime soon.
A recent Reddit post revealed that the privacy technology seems to be in its early testing phase. And as such, some users are surprisingly getting their hands on it early on.

A Reddit post disclosed that the message that the user sent on a group chat is end-to-end encrypted. The participants in the chat include both Google Messages and Samsung Messages users.
Besides that, another Android user says that the end-to-end encryption on Google Messages for group chats has been enabled. The user checks out the debug menu of the messaging service to confirm that it is indeed turned on.

Google Confirmed Group Chats Are Also Getting End-to-End Encryption
Android Central says in its report that end-to-end encryption on Google Messages group chats allows its users to send messages without the prying eyes of their carrier or even Google.
According to the latest news story by 9to5 Google, the renowned tech giant introduced its end-to-end encryption feature to direct messages before 2020 ended.
And early this year, the media outlet reports that none other than Google has confirmed that end-to-end encryption will soon be available on group chats.
The tech behemoth revealed that RCS group chats would start getting encrypted as well. The renowned firm assures its users that the new feature is likely seeing the light of day before 2022 ends, but only in open beta testing.
While the tech firm has yet to start its open beta, it looks like it is testing the security feature to select users for Google Messages group chats.
