T-Mobile suffers from another security breach on its infrastructure, claiming that a "bad actor" have managed to access its database and obtained "limited information" from the public. This is another case of the famous telecommunications company seeing a breach in their systems, the first of this year, and is currently investigating the events. 

The company is yet again facing a security issue on its hands, and this is after it trumped the recent Ookla Speedtest Global Index and took the top spot for the fastest 5G and 4G LTE.

T-Mobile Security Breach Affects 37 Million Subscribers

T-Mobile is letting its customers know that it recently suffered from a security breach that affected more than 37 million accounts, with subscribers' information stolen. The company claimed that upon detecting this access, it already shut down its systems for 24 hours to avoid further loss or theft of data and information.

The giant telecommunications company claimed that its systems and policies have prevented this hack from accessing sensitive information. The company further claimed that no customer information and finances are at risk via this attack.

According to T-Mobile, the only obtained information includes "name, billing address, email, phone number, date of birth, account number, and information such as the number of lines on the account and service plan features."

What Happened on T-Mobile's Database

T-Mobile said that a "bad actor" used a single Application Programming Interface (API) to gain access to its systems that made its way to getting the said limited information. The company did not reveal how many were affected by this recent hack, but its SEC filing regarding this breach related that 37 million users were affected. 

T-Mobile Security Issues

Back in March 2022, a New York Attorney General issued a warning to all T-Mobile subscribers about a potential identity theft that points to a recent data breach on the company's end. The significant risk of identity theft stems from this security breach in the company, where threat actors were able to access user information from the company's systems. 

In order to counteract this, the giant telco allegedly tried to buy back the stolen data from the hackers, but to no avail.

There was also an issue against the company which claims that they sell their users' data to advertisers and select third-party partners. Good thing is that users may download an app to protect their data and avoid its availability to unknown clients of T-Mobile. 

With the many security issues that T-Mobile is facing, there are significant doubts against the company, especially in subscribing to its services. The current dilemma now is that the company offers the best 5G and 4G LTE data services in the country, but suffers a new security breach as per the company's latest release.
