Autofuel, located in Denmark, has developed a robotic refueling system to benefit motorists. The tech eliminates the need for drivers to pay attention to or participate in refueling their vehicles.

Making Life Easier

According to Interesting Engineering, an automated arm is being used to fill up vehicles from an already-established gasoline dispenser. The system may handle every aspect of the transaction, from client identification through payment processing.

This technology helps make life easier for users, provides much-needed assistance to the disabled, and lays the groundwork for autonomous mobility in the future.

The organization claims that the fuelling procedure has remained the same in the previous 70 years.

"In the same period, the technology has developed faster than ever, and today we have fast internet, smartphones, AI assistants, and self-driving cars that will soon be present on the roads," as its website states.

Insight, a British research company, predicts that the market for robotic refueling will reach $50 billion in size in Europe by 2028.

How Does it Work?

Users must create an account before they may register their vehicle information, which consists of its make, model, fuel type, payment information, license plate, etc. For this reason, it is mandatory that certain vehicles have a unique gas cap installed.

The driver will be guided to a suitable parking area and given information on how to refill the vehicle. The dispenser nozzle will be inserted into the gasoline tank by the robotic arm when the cap has been opened. A notification will appear on the screen to let the customer know when the robot is finished refilling, keeping them informed throughout the process.

After the robotic arm closes the fuel door and shows a green signal, the driver may go. At this time, the payment is processed and approved.

Essential Solution

The infrastructure is also prepared for the delivery of other fuels such as electricity, hydrogen, compressed natural gas, and liquefied natural gas in the future. The addition of the system to an existing gasoline dispenser will make it simpler for the company to meet any future energy demands that may occur.

It is not questionable that driverless vehicles are becoming more prevalent. Therefore, this kind of fix will quickly become essential.

"Autofuel is the ideal solution, keeping them full of energy without any human action involved," said the firm.

As automated refueling is an optional add-on, the client may always choose manual refilling if they prefer.
