The Tesla Powerwall battery is shown installed at Rongomai School on May 13, 2016, in Auckland, New Zealand. The Powerwall and solar system by lines company Vector was launched at Otaras Rongomai School, one of thirty Auckland schools that will benefit from the state-of-the-art solar and battery package.

For those who are not familiar with the Powerwall, it is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can be integrated at home.

It can store electricity for self-consumption and backup power. The Tesla Powerwall joins the rising energy assets (home battery packs, solar panels, etc.).

This at-home battery pack is also becoming one of the most popular home energy solutions.

Guests take photographs of the Powerwall system after Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, unveils suit of batteries for homes, businesses, and utilities at Tesla Design Studio on April 30, 2015, in Hawthorne, California. Musk unveiled the home battery named Powerwall with a selling price of $3500 for 10kWh and $3000 for 7kWh and a very large utility pack called Powerpack.

Their plan is to band Powerwall units together to make a virtual power plant.
Now, the giant EV maker confirmed that this pilot project was successful.

"As part of a pilot project with TransnetBW in Germany - the first in continental Europe - Powerwall owners successfully contributed renewable energy to help support key sections of the grid," said Tesla.

Recently, Transnet BW said that if the Powerwall pilot project succeeds, it will help Tesla expand the program.

Since the Powerwall pilot project is a success, this means that there's a high chance the German electric company would further assist Tesla's Powerwall distribution.

As of press time, Germany is still making efforts to adapt its electric grid so that it can have stable power supplies.

Tesla's Powerwalls could greatly help the country achieve this.

Other Tesla Powerwall Efforts

Germany is not the only country that Tesla is helping using its advanced Powerwall technology.

Teslarati reported that the automaker is also assisting Australia.
Tesla's way to assist Australia is by lowering the prices of its Powerwall units.

On Apr. 11, Tesla announced that its Powercall in Australia dropped to $12,900. This is a huge price adjustment since the original cost of the at-home battery pack is $14,599.
