The revamp of the famed fighting game franchise, "Mortal Kombat 1," has recently unveiled its gameplay world.

During the Summer Game Fest showcase earlier this week, NetherRealm Studios revealed the first look at gameplay footage for "Mortal Kombat 1," giving fans a peek at how the game would be.

'Mortal Kombat 1' Leaks: Two New Characters Are Arriving

As leakers explored the hidden details in the trailer, they claimed that two new characters would be coming to the game. However, the game developer has yet to confirm it.

Mortal Kombat 1's latest trailer has set massive expectations for the upcoming title. It would certainly give the public what they want to see from Mortal Kombat games, particularly its violent and bloody fight scenes that are set to redefine the entire franchise.

NetherRealm and WB Games hinted at what's next for the Mortal Kombat franchise in the official trailer. However, they may have missed several Easter eggs, which include new characters coming to the game.

Sindel is Coming to 'Mortal Kombat 1'

NetherRealm hinted at the first character returning to the Mortal Kombat franchise via its trailer, and it is none other than Sindel, the Queen of Edenia and mother to Kitana. It was spotted by internet sleuths, who have a keen eye for spotting new or hidden things and characters.

The gameplay trailer also revealed some story elements, with Fire God Liu Kang recruiting a host of champions from across this rebooted Earthrealm. Other characters in the game include Kung Lao, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Kenshi, and Johnny Cage.

Players can also select from a roster of Kameo Fighters, providing additional assists and moves during combat, including Sonya, Kano, Goro, Jax, and others. The developer also ensured that Mileena would be a part of the roster game. Mileena is a mutant hybrid clone of Kitana.

Li Mei is Also Coming to 'Mortal Kombat 1'

Redditors and Twitter users have also shared evidence about the second character coming, and it is with Li Mei making her return to the arenas.

Li Mei was last seen in "Mortal Kombat: Armageddon," first released in 2006 for the PS2, Wii, and the original Xbox. However, this character was also not confirmed by the creators.

Mortal Kombat's Legacy

The year 2019 was the last year that NetherRealm Studios and WB Games released the latest installment to the Mortal Kombat franchise, focusing on the 11th mainline release of the game.

Mortal Kombat 11 received massive praise and has been a successful sequel to the famed series. In 2021, "Mortal Kombat 12" was among the titles cited in the massive Nvidia leak.

However, one of the execs of Warner already confirmed in February that the long-awaited fighting game sequel would be released this year. Meanwhile, "Mortal Kombat 1" is set to be launched on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X & S, and Nintendo Switch on September 19.
