Fans of the Mortal Kombat franchise can rejoice as a sequel to the 2021 live-action reboot is reportedly in the works. According to a report from The Wrap, "The Boys" star Karl Urban is set to join the cast of "Mortal Kombat 2," in the role of Johnny Cage.

The report claims that Urban is in his final talks with the production regarding this new role as Cage.

To further legitimize this report, the "Mortal Kombat" reboot's producer, Todd Garner, took to Twitter to share this report from The Wrap, which suggests that this may be something that fans may expect in the future.

Urban, who is best known for his role as Billy Butcher on Amazon Prime's hit show "The Boys," has a long history of playing tough, action-oriented characters, making him a perfect fit for the Mortal Kombat universe. The news of his casting is timely, as he is lauded for his excellent portrayal of the man who hunts down Supes, against the sinister Seven that have been artificially mutated by Vought.

However, as Butcher is best known for his brooding persona, Johnny Cage is famous for his diva attitude coming from his Hollywood background, being a chatterbox, flashy outfits, and romantic ties with Sonya Blade.

Mortal Kombat gave the world a brutal arcade-fighting game found on multiple platforms like the PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo consoles, and more. MK remains a famous game franchise now, soon releasing Mortal Kombat 12 this 2023.

It also provided a sound plot that was perfect for movie or series adaptations, with many releases in the past.
