Ever got a song you saw on your social media browsing or streaming but do not know the exact lyrics so you cannot search for it? Apple's latest work on Shazam will help you when this is impossible to know with its music recognition feature that would turn on when a user is browsing or playing a clip from another app with its new feature.

Shazam has been incredibly helpful for users for a long time, with Apple fulfilling its later tech after it acquired the company.

The latest Shazam update went live for all users, courtesy of Apple, with the app now allowing users who browse on TikTok and YouTube to use the app when playing sounds on the said platforms. With only a tap of a button, Shazam would help identify the songs and would work despite switching apps to be on the said streaming platform.

Before, users need to use Shazam on sounds that are not on their smartphones, or only for specific supported websites to record a sample of the tune and get started on its search.

Sometimes, there are songs on YouTube and TikTok that mash in a song to a different tune or edit, and its title (particularly for TikTok) is only user-generated and would not display the original music's title. This is where Shazam would be useful.

How to Use Shazam When on TikTok and YouTube

According to Apple's release for version 15.36, "Simply open Shazam, tap the blue button, and switch back to the app you were using."

This would apply for TikTok and YouTube use, with Shazam running in the background to get data from the song one wants to know the title to and use for their needs.

Shazam's music recognition and song finder also helps in giving users results that lead directly to Apple Music, and this is extremely helpful for those who want to listen to it immediately.

Shazam and its Wonders on Music Recognition

Back in 2018, Apple finalized its acquisition of the music recognition app, Shazam, and since then, the company has worked to integrate it into its technology. This $400 million app became a key part of Apple's operations, having it available when users got a song stuck in their heads where they can either hum it out or listen to it when it is playing.

Despite Apple being known for its exclusivity on most things, it allowed Shazam to arrive on Android and be integrated into other apps should developers want to work with it. This was called the ShazamKit which allows access to its build and features, released last WWDC 2021, bridging the gap for other developers to integrate its recognition features.

Since Apple's acquisition, it has developed Shazam to recognize tunes and beats better, even when one is only humming the song via the app. Now, whenever browsing YouTube or TikTok and they do not have the exact title of the song playing in the background, users no longer need to faithfully listen to it over and over to know its lyrics to search on the web, as Shazam will do it for them.
