The MCXtrema's Design of Maserati

The MCXtrema's design is a collaborative effort between the Centro Stile and Maserati's engineering team. Positioned as a successor to the MC12, the MCXtrema is designed to cater to private owners seeking a high-performance, track-ready machine. Notably, all available units of the MCXtrema have been swiftly sold.

According to Maserati, the MCXtrema is "a radically exclusive club," emphasizing its focus on delivering uncompromised performance. The vehicle's design balances both mechanical and aesthetic aspects.

The contours of the MCXtrema's design, from the Trident-shaped front bonnet to the purposefully designed rear wing with a central fin, are intended to enhance both grip and velocity.

The name "MCXtrema" is chosen to reflect the extreme nature of the vehicle. Drawing a parallel to the Maserati MC20, the "MC" stands for Maserati Corse, highlighting the brand's racing heritage. The suffix "Xtrema" conveys the intense emotion that the vehicle embodies.

The MCXtrema's design draws inspiration from the iconic Birdcage model, prioritizing functionality, control, performance, and safety. The vehicle is stripped down to essentials, resulting in a lighter and faster machine.

Safety features include a 6-point racing seatbelt and roll cage, while ergonomically positioned pads enhance driver comfort. The carbon and aluminum steering wheel, equipped with essential controls and a central display, is designed to facilitate quick access to functions necessary for optimal lap times.

Maserati's Most Powerful Racing Beast: MCXtrema

The MCXtrema's engineering focuses on optimizing aerodynamics and performance on the track. Collaborating with Centro Stile, the engineering team aimed to maximize the sporting potential of the racing machine.

Elements such as minimal ride height, a flat underfloor, a front splitter, a rear wing, a shark fin, and a sculptural rear diffuser were designed to enhance control and grip. The result is a vehicle ready to conquer the racetrack.

The MCXtrema's power-to-weight ratio is a noteworthy 1.8 kg/CV, with a total dry weight of around 1,300 kg. Building upon the success of the MC12, the MCXtrema inherits a competitive drive magnified by its central carbon-fiber monocoque.

The vehicle features a double-wishbone suspension system, fully adjustable racing dampers, springs, and antiroll bars, providing precise handling on various track conditions.

Under the hood, the MCXtrema is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine, boasting an enhanced power output of 740 CV due to new turbochargers. This engine, a product of the Nettuno project, delivers peak power and a maximum torque of 730 Nm through a 6-speed sequential racing gearbox.

"MCXtrema is a radically exclusive club. A track-only 740-CV Maserati racer, an uncompromised expression of performance. The MCXtrema takes mechanics and design to daring, new heights. Beware of the most powerful Maserati racing beast," Maserati wrote on its website.
