The Exynos 2400 chipset, Samsung's latest innovation, is slated to be revealed, and sources believe users will not be disappointed. Read more.

This powerful processor is rumored to be at the heart of some models within the highly anticipated Galaxy S24 lineup.

While not directly competing with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Dimensity 9300, the Exynos 2400 could hold the key to significant cost savings for Samsung's flagship family in 2024.

A Familiar Strategy from Samsung

Intriguingly, Samsung appears to be revisiting a strategy it had employed until recently.

Phone Arena notes that the company would usually equip its flagship Galaxy S line with the Exynos chipset for most regions, reserving the Snapdragon variant for the U.S. and China.

However, the Galaxy S23 series differed from this approach, as all units were equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

With the rumored return of the Exynos 2400, Samsung could potentially allocate cost savings to bolster the Galaxy S24's other specifications, offering users a more compelling package.

A Look Under the Hood: Exynos 2400 Specs

Antutu (via Wccftech) reports that the Exynos 2400 is expected to house a 10-core CPU configuration, divided into a '1 + 2 + 3 + 4' cluster, as per AnTuTu's insights. This arrangement's core is a Cortex-X4 prime core running at 3.10GHz.

Interestingly, an earlier rumor suggests the possibility of an even higher frequency at 3.20GHz for this core. While unconfirmed, this could potentially enhance the chip's performance.

Complementing the robust CPU is the Exynos 2400's showstopper - the Xclipse 940 GPU.

Built on AMD's RDNA2 architecture, this GPU is rumored to feature twice the compute units of its predecessor, the Xclipse 920.

It is important to note that while the doubling of compute units is impressive, real-world performance may not see a direct 2x improvement.

Samsung's emphasis on performance and efficiency continues with the Exynos 2400's manufacturing process. Built using the 4nm process node from Samsung Foundry, this chipset promises improvements that could outshine its predecessor, the Exynos 2200.

Satellite Communication and Versatility

Wccftect tells us that one intriguing addition to the Exynos 2400's repertoire is its support for two-way satellite communication. This feature mirrors Apple's Emergency SOS via Satellite, offering Galaxy S24 users the ability to call for help in dire situations where traditional cellular networks fail.

Wireless connectivity receives a boost as well, thanks to the integration of the Exynos 5300 5G modem. With a maximum downlink speed of 10Gbps and an uplink speed of 3.87Gbps, this modem aligns itself with the Snapdragon X75 in terms of connectivity prowess.

What's Next?

Excitement brews as we pour over the Exynos 2400's specifications, but skepticism remains. While the chipset's potential is impressive on paper, its real-world performance remains untested.

The true litmus test will occur when these chips power actual devices and users put them through their paces.
