According to the story by Pop Sci, the smartphone spotted selling at a discount was the Apple iPhone XR, which dropped its price to just $249.99. This was reportedly for the 64 GB variant with other options costing more.
The smartphone was sold at a 66% discount from its original $749.00 price down to just $249.99 at the Popular Science store. However, it's also important to note that this isn't a brand-new smartphone and that it's a Grade A Refurbished version that has already been unlocked.

The most expensive variant, the iPhone XR 256 GB smartphone was selling at a 63% discount bringing its price down from $899.00 to just $329.99. Although this might be $80 more expensive, it also comes with 4x more storage compared to the 64 GB version.
This comes as the Apple iPhone 15 is being anticipated and the company is expected to launch this smartphone soon. The iPhone XR, on the other hand, was first introduced in 2018 as a budget alternative to buyers who wanted a new iPhone without being able to afford the more expensive models.

It was noted that during that time, its crowning features included the liquid Retina display as well as the haptic touch. It was also noted that the refurbished smartphone comes with a 90-day warranty but it also doesn't come in Apple's original product packaging or accessories.
Some of the specs included in the Apple iPhone XR include its A12 Bionic chip that comes with quick app launch and smooth processing. Other additions include its balance between size and portability, given that it packs everything in a 6.1-inch display.

It also comes with support for multiple languages and characters simultaneously while also coming with fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating. It also comes with the 2nd gen Neural Engine and is rated IP67.
