Sony fans should know by now that the rumored PlayStation 5 Slim is finally official. According to the gaming giant, the new console model will be debuting this holiday season.

First Look of PS5 Slim Before Holiday Debut

Even before Sony's announcement about the PS5 Slim, some people speculated that the company was preparing to launch a trimmed-down version of the 2020 console.

Amid the rumor wars about PlayStation 5's newest model, it's about time for fans to get hyped about the console for the holidays.

According to Sony's Senior Director of SIE Content and Communications, Sid Shuman, PS5 Slim was created to "address the evolving needs of players."

Shuman says that having this type of model now offers greater choice and flexibility for gamers. It's actually just a smaller version of the standard PS5. You can attach an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and there's more than that- a 1 TB SSD so you have more games to store.

When it comes to its design, Sony says that it's lighter by 18% and 24% than its predecessors. It's also 30% smaller than the previous models.

It's important to note that its bottom has a matte finish, but its top part and cover panels have a glossy touch.

The PlayStation 5 Slim will hit the shelves in the US starting next month. You can check the local retailers near you if you want to snag this console. You can also visit direct.playstation.com for its availability.

Sony adds that when the current PS5 model is out of stock, the only one that will be sold is the new PS5 model, per IGN.
