Snapchat now allows users to embed Lenses, Spotlight videos, stories, and profiles via web browsers, aligning with Instagram and TikTok.

Snapchat users can now seamlessly embed Lenses, Spotlight videos, public stories, and profiles through their computer browsers, making sharing Snapchat's unique content easier than ever, Engadget tells us in a report.

This move puts Snapchat in line with competitors like Instagram and TikTok, who have long allowed users to embed their content.

For years, the platform has been on a journey to become more than just a tool for sending selfies to friends.

With the introduction of the embedding feature, Snapchat continues its transformation into a versatile and dynamic social media platform.

Expanding on Snapchat's Evolution

Snapchat's evolution from a simple photo-sharing app to a multifaceted social media platform has been evident.

This latest addition is a logical progression, building upon other features such as articles and the ability to discover local places of interest.

In 2022, Snapchat launched "Snapchat for Web," a notable step towards making the platform more accessible across devices.

The embedding feature is bound to open up a new realm of possibilities for content creators and businesses.

Now, they can seamlessly integrate their Snapchat content into their websites, adding an engaging and interactive element to their online presence.

AI Features to Snapchat

In addition to the embedding feature, Engadget reports that Snapchat has introduced a remarkable tool powered by OpenAI. This feature enables users to extend their snaps by predicting the appearance of the entire border area.

This feature is currently available exclusively for Snapchat+ subscribers, adding further value to this premium subscription.

Snapchat's adoption of AI technology does not stop here. Their AI-powered "Dreams" feature, which generates fantastical images, is becoming a favorite among users.

While regular users can access it once, Snapchat+ subscribers get the added benefit of enjoying one set per month. Additional packs can be purchased for just $0.99, showing how Snapchat is turning AI into an attractive incentive for subscribers.

A Closer Look at Snapchat's Content Embedding

Traditionally, Snapchat's content was primarily consumed within its app. However, with the introduction of content embedding, the platform now allows websites to include public content like Lenses, Spotlight videos, Public Stories, and Public Profiles.

Users simply need to open the content in a desktop browser, click the "embed" button on the share sheet, and copy the code to share it on their website.

This move follows in the footsteps of rivals Instagram and TikTok, both of which have offered web embeds for some time now.

By opening up its content for web embedding, Snapchat hopes to increase its traffic both on the app and website, attracting new users and retaining the current ones.

Ambitious Goals for the Future

The Verge tells us that Snap CEO Evan Spiegel recently shared his aspirations for the platform. He aims to reach a staggering 475+ million daily users by 2024 and has set targets of 14 million Snapchat+ subscribers and $500 million in non-advertising revenue.

As of last month, Snapchat+ already boasted over 5 million subscribers, marking substantial progress towards Spiegel's vision.
