Skype's latest update (8.110.76.102) introduces TwinCam for dual camera support in calls and Stacked Media Albums, enhancing collaboration and streamlined content sharing.

TwinCam: Secondary Camera Support

One of the key highlights of Skype's update is the introduction of TwinCam, a feature designed to add dynamism and versatility to video calls.

TwinCam allows users to utilize their mobile devices as secondary cameras during Skype calls, presenting an opportunity for a dual-perspective experience.

Users enrolled in the Skype Insider program can seamlessly integrate their mobile camera feed into ongoing desktop calls, enabling diverse applications such as showcasing tutorials, musical performances, or even sharing delightful moments with pets.

Activating TwinCam is a breeze - a simple QR scan from your mobile device during any ongoing Skype call on the desktop triggers the feature, offering users a multifaceted view that merges the desktop and mobile camera feeds.

This feature is anticipated to be great for enhancing collaborations, presentations, and sharing personal experiences, providing a broader canvas for interaction within the Skype ecosystem.

Stacked Media Albums: Streamlining Content Sharing

In tandem with TwinCam, Skype has boosted its chat functionality with the introduction of Stacked Media Albums. What is this feature for? To mitigate clutter in conversations inundated with multiple photos and videos.

With this enhancement, sharing visuals becomes an elegant affair, as two or more photos or videos neatly stack upon each other within the chat, minimizing the feed disruption.

These stacked media albums offer a refined viewing experience, complete with themed borders that complement the user's chosen mode - a crisp white border in light mode and a sleek black edge in dark mode.

This aesthetic touch harmonizes with the overall theme, ensuring a visually pleasing engagement while preserving the simplicity of browsing through shared content.

Users can effortlessly expand the stack to explore each visual element, offering a narrative-like browsing experience akin to flipping through a curated story.

Insider Testing and Gradual Rollout

As of now, the latest update with TwinCam and Stacked Media Albums is available exclusively to Skype Insiders running version 8.110.76.102. However, Skype assures a gradual rollout over the upcoming days, promising a wider audience access to these transformative features.

The recent release notes also mention a bug fix for an issue where Skype randomly signs users out when sending an audio or video message on Mac.
