If you have not yet heard about Palworld, then this is a sign to check the game out as there is a craze over it, now breaking Valve Steam's All-Time Player record after only three days since it was dropped. Apart from this new record-breaking achievement, the game also saw initial success during its launch day, seeing massive sales in a matter of hours.

Many regard Palworld to be a game that centers on "Pokemon with guns," and while it seems to be a darker take on the renowned Nintendo experience, this offers a fresh perspective that offers a different dynamic.

A new milestone for Palworld was recently achieved, with the Japanese company and its developer, PocketPair, sharing this achievement at X, especially as it broke All-time Player records on Steam alone. Currently, Palworld sits atop the list for the all-time peak and current player records on Steam, both featuring 1,121,226 players in total.

The latest numbers from SteamDB's platform recorded a number of 1,291,967 all-time peak over the past 24 hours, with its numbers further growing as time passes.

It beat the all-time peak numbers of the top-anticipated game of 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red, which garnered a total of 1,054,388 players during its heyday.

PocketPair Reports Total of 4 Million Copies Sold

Alongside this milestone, PocketPair also shared another gaming milestone for Palworld which already sold a total of 4 million copies in only three days since it was released last January 18. Like its player count, it is expected to sell more in the coming days.

It is important to note that these numbers are centered on the copies sold, accounting for it under the paid games list. Still, it beat the likes of Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2, two of the most-played titles on Steam says ComicBook Gaming.

Palworld and Pokemon's Similarities

It is no doubt that Pokemon already cemented its place in the gaming industry and pop culture thanks to its many years of proving why it is one of the most beloved franchises in the world. From the OG games known as Pokemon Red and Blue (a.k.a. Pocket Monsters Red and Green) that were first made for the Game Boy, down to the latest Scarlet and Violet for the Nintendo Switch.

Throughout the years, there were massive spinoffs from The Pokemon Co. itself, including the likes of Pokemon GO, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Pokemon Pikachu Eevee, and more. However, there was a Japanese company known as PocketPair Inc. which teased a different take with Palworld, best known for delivering a "Pokemon with guns" experience, gaining massive hype in its initial teaser.

In its 2024 release, the game saw as many as 1 million copies sold in its first 8 hours of availability, and this is despite the early access version of the game, and not yet the full release version. PocketPair promised that future updates and developments would offer new experiences for all, but even without that, it already broke all-time Steam player records, expected to grow more along the way.
