DC is cleaning house and making several changes that fans may or may not find appealing. One big update is a revamp of several core hero costumes — but is it a case of fixing what ain't broke?

Superman:

Whenever we imagine the Man of Steel in costume, what comes to mind is the red cape, the tights and the big letter "S" on his chest. Superman has taught us that this symbol means hope, but that's a topic for another day.

The new costume DC has given our beloved hero is nothing special whatsoever: just blue jeans and a letter "S" t-shirt. We're not sure what this costume is supposed to represent, because he barely looks like Superman. Clark dressing like this seems more along the lines of Superboy Prime, and that's not a bad thing. Nevertheless, we would prefer seeing him in his original costume, even if it means losing his cape.

Green Lantern:

Ladies and gentlemen, we present: the hoodie. You might as well go ahead and call him the Green Lantern Arrow or something. Hey, we're not saying he doesn't look great in his new outfit, he just looks too much like Green Arrow. Before anyone loses their mind, we should point out that Hal Jordan is now a fugitive, and that's a legitimate reason for the hoodie.

We like it well enough — but it should have been given a more unique design.

Green Arrow:

Oliver Queen has a new costume, but we can't see why it had to be changed in the first place. It doesn't look that different from his old ones. We don't hate it, but we don't like it either, because it's nothing we haven't seen before.

The Flash:

This is another costume change that has us thinking. Seriously, what is going on in the minds of the designers at DC?  All the electricity surrounding Barry Allen makes his costume flashier and it emphasizes that he's the fastest man on the planet. The Flash logo is very similar to the one found in the TV show on The CW.

The color is a darker red, but overall, the difference between the old ones and the new is not that pronounced.

Batman:

Wait, what is going on here? Why is Batman rocking armor that makes him look like Blue Beetle? It's hard to say, but we're definitely not fans. If Batman is dressed in armor and fans can't instantly tell that it's Bruce Wayne in there — then what's the point?

Someone at DC needs to pack his or her things and leave, immediately.

Wonder Woman:

Out of all the new costumes, we like Wonder Woman's outfit the most. We doubt the designers could have messed up this one up even if they wanted to. From what we can tell, it appears that the new suit is a blend of the old ones. There's clearly something representing the short skirt, and what seems to be shorts with thigh-high boots.

It appears that she has blades on her hands — but are they retractable? They better be, because how else would Diana scratch her face without poking out her eyes? All in all, it is a great design. It could be more streamlined with a little less going on, but it's armor for battle, so no big deal.

Conclusion:

The new designs seem a little weak. Wonder Woman's costume is the only one we can accept at this point. The others? They could use a little more work.
