Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon is no stranger to Twitter. Over the course of Mortal Kombat X's development and in the weeks prior to the game's release, Boon regularly took to the social media site to interact with fans, answering questions and teasing new details about the upcoming game.

Now he's done it again — this time, teasing a "Story Pack" for Mortal Kombat X.

There are a number of characters featured in Mortal Kombat X's story mode who aren't actually playable in the game — in spite of players getting to fight against them. Those fighters include Sindel, Baraka and Rain, with numerous other characters like Frost, Bo'Rai Cho, Kabal, Stryker and others making cameo appearances.

Clever modders in the PC version of the game have already managed to unlock functional versions of Baraka, Sindel and Rain by cracking the game's code. This was done by modders tricking the game into believing they were playing as Shinnok, when they were actually playing as previously inaccessible fighters.

Would the teased "Story Pack" DLC for the game simply unlock characters who are already within the game? Hard to say. Characters like Baraka, Sindel and Rain may not be 100 perfect finished or balanced, despite being already in the game. The pack could also add additional characters players didn't actually get to fight against in the game's story mode.

We'll have to wait for an official announcement to be sure, and Boon's Twitter account just might be the place it happens. Announcements that a free skin would come with every Mortal Kombat X patch, as well users being able to play certain DLC characters without purchasing them via the games premiere tower, all came from Boon via the social media platform.
