The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) now offers 4K Ultra High-Definition (UHD) videos on YouTube. The videos will be shot in an extremely smooth rate of 60 frames-per-second. The teaser of the upcoming high-quality videos had a duration of 20 seconds and was posted on the ReelNASA channel.

"This important new capability will allow researchers to acquire high resolution - high frame rate video to provide new insight into the vast array of experiments taking place every day," said NASA. "It will also bestow the most breathtaking views of planet Earth and space station activities ever acquired for consumption by those still dreaming of making the trip to outer space."

In the past, NASA has released 4K videos taken from the International Space Station (ISS); however, glitches in terms of timing due to the large quantity of still pictures were noted. As these photos necessitate extensive amounts of work and editing, it loses is time-sensitive feature. NASA's efforts to find ways of downloading UHD clips that are close to its real-time occurrence may mean that these 4K videos may now be ready for viewing on the Internet sooner than it usually takes.

Together with the exciting news, it must be noted that 4K UHD videos, specifically those running at 60 frames-per-second may be a challenge to view for the regular computer user. To view the highly-anticipated videos from NASA, one must own a powerful computer that has a stable and fast-speed Internet connection. If not, long loading and buffering times may be expected. YouTube has also recently started supporting 8K videos, which NASA may soon worked on as well, but this may require more advanced computer features, which are more challenging to attain.

At present, the innovation in video sharing offered by NASA may improve the public's insight of what the outer space really looks like. The agency is expected more 4K UDH videos for the public to enjoy and get information from. "The view of life in space is getting a major boost with the introduction of 4K Ultra High-Definition (UHD) video, providing an unprecedented look at what it's like to live and work aboard the International Space Station," states NASA.
