LG's upcoming flagship LG G3 has been leaking on a daily basis and now the company has sent out invites for an event it is holding on May 27, where it will officially launch the LG G3.

When it comes to taking on Apple, Samsung, and HTC, other smartphone companies need to come up with a new killer feature that could possibly persuade a customer into choosing its smartphone over its rivals. LG most recently did this when it launched the LG G Flex. The handset was the first smartphone in the U.S. to ship with a flexible display and a self-healing back cover that could repair small scratches. Now LG is planning something even more impressive with its upcoming G3 smartphone.

The LG G3 will be the first smartphone to hit the U.S. with an Ultra HD display with a jaw dropping resolution of 2560 x 1440. This display easily trumps the iPhone 5s' 1136 x 640 Retina display, the Samsung Galaxy S5's 1920 x 1080 Super AMOLED display, and HTC One M8's 1920 x 1080 Super LCD 3 screen. You can expect this to be the LG G3's best and most talked about feature when the company shows off the handset at its May 27 event.

The more recent reports claim the LG G3 will boast a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 QHD display and a recent leaked shot of the handset shows a redesigned rear button setup. Other rumored specs include a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and either 2GB or 3GB of RAM. The smartphone is expected to ship with a high-end 16-megapixel rear camera and 2.4-megapixel front facing camera for video chat.

The LG G3 will reportedly run Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, along with an updated version of LG's Optimus UI it runs on top of Android. We recently posted images of the new UI, which now has a flatter appearance and is expected to include a new "concierge service" that is said to rival Google Now. It will also ship with 32GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot.

We'll be covering LG's event on May 27 and will bring you all the latest news.
