Good news for Windows 10 mobile users: Microsoft has pushed out the new preview Build 10149 for fast ring users in its Windows Insider Program, which will bring a slew of improvements for mobile OS users.

Microsoft pushed out Build 10149 on Thursday, June 25, for early adopters of the beta version of its mobile OS a week after the company released Build 10136.

"We have a new Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build for Windows Insiders on the Fast ring today—Build 10149. Those of you who chose to stay on Build 10080 and not go back to Windows Phone 8.1 to get Build 10136 will be happy to know that you'll be able to upgrade directly to this build—so you won't need to flash your phones back to Windows Phone 8.1," revealed Gabe Aul, Microsoft's head of data and fundamentals, in a blog post.

The new build is not only faster but also more stable and polished, according to Aul.

Build 10149 brings several enhancements, such as the flashlight function. Basically, a button in the Action Center switches on the flash on your Windows Phone so that the device can be used as a flashlight.

The build also changes the name of the new browser to Microsoft Edge (previously called Project Spartan). With the onset of Microsoft Edge, users will no longer be able to access their cookies, history, favorites and reading list pages from older builds. Microsoft alerted users of this change previously and advised that they back up the data.

The Edge browser also modifies the address bar: you will be able to view it at the bottom of the screen. Users also have the option to see a website in desktop view in Build 10149.

The Photos app also sees improvements and will offer support for animated GIFs on Windows Phones that have a minimum of 1GB of RAM. Cortana, the personal assistant, also gets enhancements. The UI for Cortana's Notebook has been finalized and now has a combined profile and settings page.

In the new build, Microsoft also fixes certain issues. The Podcast app, which stopped working suddenly, will now be able to function again. Users will also be able to hide their navigation bar.

However, even with the new build, Microsoft still has not managed to resolve all issues. In-app purchases made from Windows 10 Mobile are currently not functional because the company is migrating the functionality to the new Windows Store.
