The latest teaser video for Bentley's luxury SUV takes on a melodramatic tone as a transparent model of the vehicle is shown off in a tube of light.

"We don't see lines. We see light," concludes the teaser video for the SUV, which is scheduled to launch in 2016.

The luxury car company revealed its plans of rolling out its first-ever SUV model earlier this year, with the name of the highly anticipated vehicle still unknown.

"(The video) shows how the exterior of this remarkable new car is taking shape," Bentley said in a statement.

"Sculpted, contemporary and distinctive design is being combined with the exquisite and meticulous detailing for which Bentley is renowned."

It was speculated that the vehicle would look like the EXP 9 "Falcon" concept that the company revealed in 2012. However, the video, as well as in a teaser picture released in March, showed that the SUV will feature a twin-headlight arrangement that resembles that of Bentley's Continental GT, ditching the single headlights of the concept car.

"We created a completely new car, a real Bentley SUV. Now it will meet the expectations of our customers much better than two years ago. Even if there was no badge, you'll know it is a Bentley," said Bentley chairman and CEO Wolfgang Schreiber earlier in the year.

The vehicle will be fully revealed in September 2015 before the sales of two versions, one with a V8 engine and another with a W12 engine, beginning 2016. However, it is reported that much of the 5,000-unit allocation for the vehicle's first year is sold out. In 2017, a hybrid petrol-electric version will be released.

Bentley looks to inject new blood into the burgeoning luxury SUV industry, primarily in Russia, China and the Middle East. The vehicle sports the trademark Bentley look, inspired by the design of the Continental and Mulsanne, and will enter a market where its primary competitors will be the BMX X5 and the Land Rover Range Rover Sport.

"We want to solve the problem for all those who want to spend more on an SUV," said Bentley marketing chief Kevin Rose back in March.

"This is what Bentley does. When we launched the Continental, it had no direct competitor. If you can be first to do something, it's very powerful."

The price for Bentley's SUV is still unknown, though it is expected to be more expensive than the most expensive Range Rover, which would peg it at over £140,000 or US$230,000.
