When gamers get their hands on Disney Infinity 3.0 at the end of August, the first Playset (aka, story-driven campaign) they'll play is Twilight of the Republic. This Star Wars Playset comes with the 3.0 Starter Pack, along with Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano playable figures.

Twilight of the Republic is set during the timeframe of the TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars (with the same voice actors from the show voicing their characters in the game), with Darth Maul returning as the Battle Droid factory on Geonosis is started up again. Figures for Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Maul himself will be available as separate purchases. The official story trailer for Twilight of the Republic, as first unveiled at the D23 Expo, has been posted online and you can watch it below.

A similar storyline played out on The Clone Wars, where Maul was revealed to have survived being sliced in half, clinging to life thanks to his Sith training but going mad in the process. WIth the help of Mother Talzin, his sanity was returned and he was given new, mechanical legs. The Darth Maul featured in Twilight of the Republic, it should be noted, uses the character's original design; presumably this was done for aesthetic reasons to better suit collectors.

Disney Interactive says that Twilight will send players across "four iconic locations." Based on the new trailer, those locations appear to be the planets Naboo, Geonosis, Tatooine, and galactic capitol Coruscant. The many other Star Wars characters Infinity is releasing, including those from the original trilogy, Episode VII and Star Wars Rebels, will also be playable inside Twilight of the Republic. Ninja Theory, developer behind games like Devil May Cry and Heavenly Sword, created the Twilight Playset.

Disney Infinity 3.0 will be in stores on August 30, 2015.
