Microsoft is set to unveil new Surface tablets and Lumia smartphones at a press event on Oct. 6. New images of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL have leaked, revealing triple-LED flash and dual-SIM models.

The biggest players in the mobile world have either already released devices powered by their next-generation OS or are preparing to do so. Apple shattered sales records with the release of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which went on sale on Sept. 25 and ship with iOS 9 out of the box.

Google unveiled the LG Nexus 5X smartphone and Huawei Nexus 6P phablet on Sept. 29, and like Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, Google's devices are the launch vehicles for its latest version of Android, 6.0 Marshmallow. Google also confirmed which previous generation Nexus smartphones and tablets would receive an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, as well as the devices that wouldn't.

It's now time for Microsoft to join its rivals in launching its latest devices powered by Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile. The company is holding a press event on Oct. 6, where it will unveil its next-generation Surface Pro 4 tablet and the Lumia 950 smartphone and Lumia 950 XL phablet.
