Apple recently released its latest flagship smartphones, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Here are the availability and wait times for both models from Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile.

Apple's introduction of its latest iPhones appears to be a great success, with the company proclaiming itself on track to beat last year's launch in terms of sheer order volume. That's good news for Apple and its shareholders, but not necessarily for consumers looking to get their hands on the newest iPhones.

Most configurations of the iPhone 6s Plus are already sold out at both Apple and the various affiliated carriers in the U.S., with the iPhone 6s more readily available. The rose gold color appears to be the most in demand, with less availability and longer wait times for the new color option.

Those looking for an iPhone 6s in any color but rose gold are still in luck, with Apple shipping on the date of official release, Sept. 25. The AT&T and Sprint rose gold iPhone 6s is also available in every storage configuration on release date. Verizon's 16 GB rose gold iPhone 6s is available on release as well, but has a two to three week wait on the 64 GB and 128 GB versions; T-Mobile is showing the same wait for all storage configurations of the new color. The availability and wait times for those attempting to purchase directly through the carriers generally echo availability from Apple, with some slight variations in expected wait times for some models.

Those looking to snag an iPhone 6s Plus on release date are out of luck irrespective of what color, carrier or storage configuration. Apple is showing a three to four week wait time along all models, both in the U.S. and other key territories such as the UK, Australia, China, Canada and Japan. Again, those looking to buy their phone directly from carriers will encounter similar delays.

Apple has released a statement indicating it did not expect such high demand for the larger size iPhone: "As many customers noticed, the online demand for iPhone 6s Plus has been exceptionally strong and exceeded our own forecasts for the preorder period. We are working to catch up as quickly as we can, and we will have iPhone 6s Plus as well as iPhone 6s units available at Apple retail stores when they open next Friday."
