Microsoft's Surface Book and Surface Pro 4, which were unveiled in the lineup of new devices on Oct. 6 at the Windows 10 event, are now available for purchase in the U.S. and Canada.

Stealing the show at the event, the Surface Book has a 13.5-inch PixelSense display, is equipped with a sixth-generation Intel Core processor, a Core i7 CP, Nvidia GeForce GPU, high-speed GDDRS memory, and up to 1 TB of storage. The laptop can also be taken apart at its fulcrum hinge to be used as a clipboard, and is compatible with its included 10-point multitouch pen with 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity.

While the $1,499 Surface Book hit shelves today, because of a large volume of preorders that began on Oct. 7, there are limited quantities in stores. Microsoft said that it plans on replenishing inventory as quickly as it can if the devices become sold out at local retailers. Consumers can also order the laptop online at the Microsoft Store's website, and will be provided with an estimated delivery date.

Microsoft also revealed its latest tablet, the Surface Pro 4, earlier this month. This device has a bigger display than its predecessor, up from 12 inches to 12.3 inches at 267 PPT. It's powered by the new sixth-generation Intel Core M, i5, or i7 processors, making it 30 percent faster than the model before it. Both the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 run on Windows 10.

The tablet has 16 GB of RAM and also has up to 1 TB of storage. The Surface Pro 4 also has a slimmer and lighter Type Cover that is quieter and is "more natural to use" than its previous models, and is compatible with the new Surface Pens that comes in five colors with interchangeable tips.

The Surface Pro 4 retails for $800, and also went on presale on Oct. 7.

"It's been three years exactly since we launched the first Surface and it's really amazing how far the product family has come in that time," Microsoft said in a blog post. "We've seen people embrace the idea of a tablet that can replace your laptop and Surface Pro has become a hit with consumers and business."

The Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro 4 Type Cover, and Surface Dock are on sale right now in the U.S. and Canada. The Surface Book, Surface Pro 4 and its accessories will be available in additional markets in November.
