There is a really good chance Jessica Lange is coming back to American Horror Story this season.
The Freak Show, Coven, Asylum and Murder House alumni are on the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly with AHS showrunner Ryan Murphy, former co-star Sarah Paulson and newcomer this season, Cuba Gooding Jr. This could be a really good sign that she is.
And it's in the interview that Murphy reveals just how Roanoke ties back to season four.
Fans of the series have been teased as to what to expect this season to the point where we can't take it anymore. We want answers.
It has been previously stated that season six will somehow link back to past seasons, and how the worlds are different, yet intertwined. Fan speculation has been that the baby from Murder House could be making the farmhouse comeback.
But now finally the tight-lipped co-creator is opening up about how the two tie together, explaining that My Roanoke Nightmare is connected to Freak Show through the Mott family.
This means we will learn more about the twisted mind of the copycat clown killer Dandy Mott (played by Finn Wittrock). In Roanoke, viewers will be introduced to the Mott family and their origin, which Murphy said has a funny story line to it.
While fans may better understand what makes Dandy tick and why he turned out the way he is, we are not sure how this will tie into the Miller couple and their haunted colonial-era property.
What we can expect is to see more returning favorites this season.
"And there's a lot of great, familiar people that have come through the seasons—you know, the first five that fans have missed," Murphy said.
The showrunner revealed that scheduling issues have made it hard for some actors to return in the past, but he called dibs on certain actors early enough to make sure they were on board this time around.
"This is the year I think where you see the greatest hits in terms of actors of American Horror Story," he added.
So could that mean that Lange is really back? When fans think of the greatest actors who have appeared in the series, Lange ranks high up there (right after Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters and Lady Gaga) on the list.
We won't know for sure just yet, but fingers crossed we get both Lange and Taissa Farmiga back this time around.
Those who have been paying close attention for clues this season may have already picked up on another connection. We have been seeing no shortage of Piggy Man, which ties back to the Murder House episode where guest star Eric Stonestreet becomes spooked out by the legend.
Season six is not the first time Murphy and co. have made a Freak Show connection. We learned in Freak Show the origin of the Asylum character Pepper, as well as the backstory of Sister Mary Eunice that season.
