2020's whirlwind of new Apple products recently came to an end with the Apple Silicon and Mac M1's introduction. Still, concept arts are already getting started to reimagine new designs for 2021's releases company. A designer showcased his work to social media, reimagining the popular Apple Watch with the Series 7 having flat edges that resemble most of the company's designs.

Time does not stop for the most valuable technology company, Apple, and innovations after innovations would pour down each year. After the massive bombs this year, the company is secretly gearing up to update other devices on its line-up, with people and the concept creators already anticipating next year's release.

The Twitter user called "Wilson" (@Wilson_boi_101) recently shared his concept art of the reimagined Apple Watch Series 7 that would sport the same design as Apple's other releases this year. The most significant change to the smartwatch is its flat-edged design, which resembles the iPhone 12 that surprised people with its return to the boxy design.

The last iPhone that was designed with a flat-edge was the first-generation iPhone SE launched in 2016, taking on the iPhone 5s' body and make. Previous box-designed iPhones are one of Apple's most-loved designs, which people preferred over the release of the rounded iPhone 6 onwards.

For several years, the design stayed on for 2020's iPhone 12 that went back to its roots of having a boxed edge that started with the iPhone 4. However, the new iPhone was not the first to go back to the flat-edged design, with 2018's iPad Pro introduction sporting the classic iPad look.

Apple Watch Series 7: Is Flat-Edged Design Better?

The Apple Watch Series 1 was initially released last April 2015, sporting the rounded body design that has been its mainstay look until the line-up's latest release last September on the "Time Flies" Apple event. The popular smartwatch has never changed in design, only on its systems, chips, etc.

The introduction of the flat-edge would be a relatively new concept for the Apple Watch Series 7. It requires reconfiguration of not just the design but also its internal systems. Most timepieces are rounded and circular, but Apple's smartwatch sports a round-edged square design.

Twitter users who have seen the design were complaining about the concept to look "thicker" and "chunkier," which would be uncomfortable to wear. Also, the flat-edged design may flop as people were used to the rounded-edged design, along with its screen's rounded design.

The users who initially seen the concept did not like the box-edged design of the Apple Watch Series 7's design as it would be too "bulky" and weird. The good thing is that Apple would upgrade the Series 7's features and maybe add more to it than the Series 6. Initially, more features were expected for the Series 6 but were not included in the released version.
