While many looked forward to the promise of what 2021 might hold, many of the problems and discussions of 2020 have carried over to the new year. With the pandemic lingering and new political issues to address, all eyes remain glued to the headlines of CNN, Twitter timelines and Instagram feeds, anticipating what will come next. Though in a time where news consumption has never been greater, consumers have been faced with the challenge of finding the resource and platforms that will share thoroughly researched and authentic news. As the possibility of fake news and sensationalism continues to threaten the integrity of major news outlets, up-and-coming social advocate, Yasmin Tavakoli is rising up as the voice of truth in these unprecedented times.

With a long history of experience in politics and world issues, Tavakoli previously worked with the United Nations after receiving her Masters in Diplomacy from the University of Southern California. Despite this history, she never envisioned herself pursuing a career as a politician. But after the chaotic slew of events that transpired in early 2020, Tavakoli held an insightful discussion via Instagram Live with a good friend of hers, a doctor, where the two examined various points regarding the coronavirus. After receiving an influx of questions and engagement after her first Instagram discussion, she has since continued the series, dubbing it Talks with Yasmin. Though today, her discussions are even more complex and organized as she interviews various pertinent figures like politicians, city officials, political pundits, social justice advocates, doctors, business owners, and more. While she continues her Talks with Yasmin via Instagram Live, most recently she launched the series on Spotify in podcast format.

In an oversaturated market of news-focused discussions, what sets Tavakoli apart is her unequivocal demand for the truth across any and every dialogue she engages in. With an innate and unapologetic sense of diplomacy, the rising social advocate is quick to call out any issue or figure hiding behind fallacy. And with fairness and justice, Tavakoli is adamant about representing both sides of any matter, to ultimately reveal what is right. In every conversation, she presses her followers to stay informed, do their homework and educate themselves on these important matters.

"I'm very adamant about remaining diplomatic across all of these discussions," Tavakoli says. "I always bring both sides of any stance to the table and I like to provide a space where people feel comfortable to voice their own opinions without being judged or misrepresented."

In line with her brand and content, the blossoming social advocate recently partnered with AllSides, a media technology company that insists on sharing balanced news, media bias ratings and civil discourse. Now as an ambassador for the company, she looks forward to developing new opportunities to share her content with the AllSides audience and beyond via a weekly talk that she will host from the AllSides page.

As long as both global and domestic news headlines continue to make history, Tavakoli remains dedicated to her craft, sharing content that is authentic and fact-checked for the masses to consume in a healthy and appropriate way. Between Talks with Yasmin on Instagram Live and via Spotify on her new podcast format, she looks forward to shedding light on what's most important-the truth.

"Through these ongoing conversations, I urge my followers to open their minds to different perspectives," Tavakoli says. "I like to bring forth the truth and perspective and furthermore, I hope these discussions encourage people to do their own research to become informed and aware."
