Sam Altman, one of the most celebrated tech CEOs of the present, wants users to sign up for another one of his companies, Worldcoin, to debut a new age of security verification and authentication. His startup company centers on the "World ID" verification program, centering on iris scanning technology to cross reference your identity to your online accounts.

In this age of ever-expanding digital developments, authentication is one of the most important factors in gaining access to services tied to one's identity, to ensure that there are no thefts or access to one's account.

Axios' report centers on the recently launched service known as World ID, under Altman's startup crypto company, Worldcoin, to which he invites the public to sign up and use its services for iris verification. The executive wants the public to try out what Worldcoin has to offer, featuring eye scans to authenticate an individual for a secure transaction.

The company also offers the World ID SDK, now in early access for mobile, web, and crypto apps in the world.

Iris Verification Service: Worldcoin's Years in the Making Tech

World ID Verification works by using a device called The Orb, which captures a user's iris image and uses it to verify their identity. The Orb is a small, portable device that can be used anywhere in the world, making it ideal for use in remote or underdeveloped areas where traditional forms of identification may not be available.

According to Altman, iris recognition is one of the most secure and reliable forms of biometric identification. Unlike other biometric data such as fingerprints or facial recognition, iris recognition is unique to each individual and cannot be easily replicated or faked.

In addition to World ID Verification, Worldcoin is also developing a range of other technologies to support its digital currency, including a decentralized exchange and a secure digital wallet.

Sam Altman, OpenAI, and Worldcoin

Altman, who previously served as the president of OpenAI, is no stranger to cutting-edge technology. OpenAI is a research organization focused on advancing artificial intelligence safely and beneficially.

He believes that Worldcoin has the potential to revolutionize the global financial system by making it more accessible and equitable. He also believes that the technology behind Worldcoin can be applied to other areas, such as voting and healthcare.

The launch of Worldcoin comes at a time when interest in digital currencies is surging. Bitcoin, the world's most famous digital currency, has seen its value skyrocket in recent years, and many other digital currencies have emerged in its wake.

However, Altman believes that Worldcoin has several advantages over other digital currencies. For one thing, it is designed to be more accessible and user-friendly, making it easier for people to adopt and use. Additionally, Worldcoin's focus on identity verification and authentication could help prevent some of the fraud and abuse that has plagued other digital currencies.

It remains to be seen whether Worldcoin will be successful in its mission to create a global digital currency, but the technology behind the project is certainly impressive. With World ID Verification and other cutting-edge technologies, Worldcoin could be the key to unlocking a more equitable and accessible financial future for everyone.
