For the past few years, Apple has faced criticism because of its user data-gathering habits. The company even faced numerous lawsuits due to serious privacy concerns. Now, another issue about iOS smartphones is spreading on TikTok.
As of writing, many users are asking if the iPhone's invisible photos are a spying campaign. If you're one of the concerned individuals, here's what you need to know.
iPhone Invisible Photos TikTok Videos Now Viral
Numerous TikTok users are stitching a video of a woman claiming that their iPhone secretly takes photos of them.

They even conducted an experiment to prove this speculation. TikTok user Brie Thomason said that iPhones take infrared pictures of users every five seconds or so.
To show her fans that they are telling the truth, she and her boyfriend did an experiment using a camera (especially those with infrared lenses) to capture the moments when Face ID takes photos, even when the iOS device is not touched.

Based on her video, the activity of Face ID can't be spotted easily with the naked eye. But it can be seen through digital cameras.

Of course, many people tested the theory out as well. Just like Brie, they also discovered that the Face ID is really taking photos even when they are not clicking anything on their iPhones.
It's Not an iPhone Spying Campaign
Luckily, the alarming discovery of Brie is not actually an iPhone spying campaign. Some TikTok users decided to research it and discovered that it was actually a Face ID functionality.

Specifically, it has something to do with the Attention Aware feature of the Face ID. This enhancement regularly checks the user's face to know if they are paying attention to their device.
