Nokia announced its flagship Nokia Lumia 930 at Microsoft's Build 2014 conference. The smartphone is packing a 5-inch 1080p display, 20-megapixel PureView camera, speedy 2.2GHz quad-core chip, and more.
Microsoft is holding its Build 2014 conference where the company unveiled the next generation Windows 8.1 OS and Windows Phone 8.1. What better way to show off Windows Phone 8.1 and all of its new features than on a brand spanking new flagship Nokia Lumia smartphone? That's exactly what Nokia did when Stephen Elop, Nokia's former CEO and now executive VP, devices and services at Nokia took to the stage to officially unveil its 2014 flagship smartphone.
The Nokia Lumia 930 has a very striking resemblance to Verizon's Nokia's Lumia Icon, which was released in February and also includes very similar specs.
"Today we are introducing people to the best of Lumia and the best of Microsoft through three stunning devices based on Windows Phone 8.1. In addition to the new developments from Microsoft, Nokia is delivering people an uncompromised imaging experience, great design and better business phones," said Elop. "We're also pleased to bring the great developments in Windows Phone 8.1 to the Lumia devices people love today."
Elop went on to describe the Nokia Lumia 930 as "a beautifully crafted device" thanks in part to its metal frame that gives the handset a premium look. The Nokia Lumia 930 features a 5-inch ClearBlack OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920, a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch (ppi), and it uses Super Sensitive Touch, which allows users to use the touchscreen while wearing gloves.
One of the Nokia Lumia 930's standout features is its 20-megapixel PureView camera with Carl Zeiss optics, dual-LED flash, the ability to record 1080p video at 30fps with stereo sound, and a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera for video chat. The smartphone will run the just announced Windows Phone 8.1 OS; will be powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor , 2GB of RAM, and will include 32GB of internal storage (the Lumia 930 does not include an expansion slot). Its wireless capabilities consist of a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC.
Lumia 930 owners will have the added benefit of having built-in Qi wireless charging out of the box with compatible chargers and the smartphone will also pack in a 2,420 mAh battery.
Nokia has not announced carrier parteners or an exact release date, only saying the Nokia Lumia 930 will go on sale in June. Check out the video below to get a better look at the Lumia 930.
