Garmin is known for its line of fitness trackers developed with runners in mind, but the company just unveiled its first smart scale that will help consumers manage their weight and reach their health and fitness goals.

The company revealed the Index Smart Scale on Tuesday, Oct. 27, that not only provides the user with their weight, but also measures their body mass index (BMI), percentage of body fat, muscle and bone mass, and water percentage.

The Index Smart Scale can track those health statistics for up to 16 different people, so it can be used by the entire family, a sports team, or your office wellness competition to get ready for the holidays.

The data is sent via Wi-Fi to the user's iOS or Android smartphone on the Garmin Connect app, so the user can analyze their progress on their individual account, and there is also MyFitnessPal integration.

"The Index Smart Scale is an exciting addition to the Garmin lineup," Garmin's VP of sales Dan Bartel said in a press release. "We designed this smart scale to be both beautiful and functional, and with it we're able to complete the wellness circle of weight management. We're also excited to offer this as an option to our millions of running, cycling and multisport athletes who are looking for a smart solution to track body composition data along with the rest of their data in Garmin Connect."

The smart scale has a sleek design with a modern LED display with extra-large numbers. It will come in both black and white.

The Index Smart Scale will be available in November, and will retail for $149.99.

Garmin also unveiled a wrist-based heart rate monitor and activity tracker, the vivosmart HR, that will also hit shelves in November, costing $150. It is available for preorder starting today and comes in three colors—black, purple and blue. The company also announced three new smartwatches as part of its Forerunner line for runners with advanced tracking capabilities and a larger display.
