The Surface Pro 4, Microsoft's fourth-generation tablet, has been officially shipped on Oct. 26. There is no doubt, many are curious about what can be found inside. Luckily, the folks from iFixit did a teardown of the $899 device, exposing a slew of interesting discoveries, including a fanless core m3 design, smaller battery and low repairability.

The Surface Pro 4 is obtainable in an array of configurations as well as with three various processors, which include the Intel Core m3, Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7.

The team from iFixit decided to tear down the Core m3 variant which houses 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

"Time to take a bite out of a juicy Microsoft offering, the Surface Pro 4, to see just what it's made of," notes iFixit in a post. "Personally, we're hoping Microsoft spent this last year thinking about what they've done and opting for a more fixable laplet (laptop+tablet, eh? ehh?)."

Battery Size

This 12.3-inch device is equipped with 5,087 mAh, which is 9 percent smaller than the Surface Pro 3's 5,547 mAh battery.

While it features a smaller battery, few reviews say Surface Pro 4 is more superior in terms of battery life.

iFixit points out this happened due to the enhanced efficiency in the design as well as the size of the processor.

Two Out Of 10 In Repairability

iFixit has likewise given the Surface Pro 4 a rating of two out of 10 in repairability. The rating is due to the use of hard-to-remove adhesives that holdseveral components in place, which include the battery and display, according to iFixit. The display assembly consists of a combined LCD and glass panel, which is not easy to take off and replace.

Fanless Core M3

What is impressive about this new device is its fanless design. iFixit uncovered that the Core m3 does not need a fan. This is, however, not the first time a fanless Core m processor is seen. As a matter of fact, this is deemed as one of Core m's benefits.

Replaceable SSD

What's also great with this tablet is its SSD that is replaceable. As such, in the event the device's SSD fails, users can always have it replaced without too many problems.
