It's called "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" for a reason. The movie has been generous with information, releasing its official logo and offering a first look at Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, but what it has kept under wraps so far are the kinds of creatures it will be featuring.

Scamander's work documented hundreds of magical creatures of course, but they can't all get a spot in the movie. So which ones will? Possibly:

Merpeople. OK, they've already made an appearance before in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," but you have to admit they deserve another round, no matter how far away they may look from Disney's version.

Niffler. Scamander had a niffler and he had a love-hate relationship with the treasure-hunting creature with a penchant for shiny things. Nifflers are highly playful and single-minded.

Bowtruckle. A stick-like creature the size of a hand first seen in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," a bowtruckle is hard to spot as it lives in trees, which it will defend with a passion, even violently. Scamander has one living in his pocket though.

Ashwinder. Allow magical fire to burn unchecked and ashwinders will be created from its embers. Not the best creatures to allow to propagate.

Augurey. Think of a phoenix, except it's green-black and from Ireland. When an augurey cries, it either signals that it's about to rain or you're about to die. Whichever comes first.

Lethifold. Dark cloaks are not usually bearers of good will and a lethifold is no exception. Not only is it creepy in that it's a dark cloak gliding on the ground, but it also suffocates its victims in their sleep.

Crup. Looks like a Jack Russell Terrier with a forked tail. It will eat anything and is extremely loyal, so, yes, it's basically a dog in the wizarding world.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will take place in New York. Aside from simply discovering an American wizarding community, Scamander will also have to deal with what happens when the magical creatures he's brought along in his trusty, but weathered, case get out.

Aside from Redmayne, the movie's cast includes Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton and Ezra Miller. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is scheduled to hit theaters November 2016.
