Asus announced on Friday, Nov. 6, the launch of the ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition smartphone that has twice as much storage space as the ZenFone 2, and comes with two new special covers.

The smartphone is equipped with Intel's Atom Quad Core Z3580 processor running at 2.3 Ghz, Power VR G6430, with support for OpenGL 3.0, with 4 GB of LPDDR3 RAM.

The special edition ZenFone 2 has some of the same specs as the ZenFone 2, including dual-SIM support, but it has 128 GB of internal storage with an additional 64 GB of storage with a microSD card, with the capability to store an extra 45,000 pictures than its predecessor could handle.

The ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition runs on Android Lollipop 5.0, and has a nonremoveable 3,000 mAh battery.

The smartphone has a 13-megapixel camera with a f/2.0 aperture with dual-flash LED, and a wide-angle 5 MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture.

The display screen has a resolution of 1080x1920, and uses IPS technology with 403 ppi, and ZenUI has been updated to have a slick design with unique icons that are outlined in red, wallpaper and notification menu. The screen is also covered in Gorilla Glass 3 to prevent scratches from accidental drops.

The ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition comes with two new covers, one made from carbon fiber, the other  a faceted design in shiny metallic silver. The covers are said to be smooth, and it "feels great in the hand," without being slippery.

The smartphone is compatible with cellular and wireless bands that include GSM/EDGE: 850, 900,1,700/2,100, 1,900, 2,100 MHz; WCDMA: Band 1/2/4/5/8; and FDD-LTE: 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/17/20, so it works with AT&T and T-Mobile.

The ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition retails for $399, and can be purchased on the Asus website, and at Newegg, B&H and Amazon.
