Facebook added a new search function that eliminates the tedious process of scrolling down to find specific posts within a Facebook profile. The new feature applies to both Facebook's iOS app and desktop users. The search function can be found on each profile page.

The Huffington Post and Mashable's Miriam Kramer were the first to report on the new feature. Both reports that the search bar can be found just below the profile's activity log. With a simple field input, all posts containing the search keyword will be populated. Hence, if the user searches for "nemo" within a specific profile, all the posts that contain the word "nemo" will show up in the search results.

However, if a user is searching within a friend's profile, the searches will be limited to posts that they are permitted to view as designated by the profile owner.

"We're piloting a way to search for people's posts from within their Profiles," a Facebook spokesperson said. "You can only search for posts that you can already see on their Timelines."

Furthermore, the new feature is not available for everyone because Facebook is currently testing it in select regions only. Note that Mashable's Miriam Kramer is in Colorado while Huffington Post's Alexander Kaufman listed New York City per his Twitter page.

Facebook has not made any announcements on whether this feature will be rolled out worldwide. However, it is a possibility since the search feature is already implemented within groups under the social media portal. As the image below shows, searching for Fallout 4 populates a list of posts that contains it.
