Now is the best time to purchase the NVIDIA Shield Android TV as the company is offering it with a free Shield Remote.

Priced regularly at $49.99, the NVIDIA Shield Remote now comes free with the set-top box, allowing customers to get the Shield Android TV, the Shield Controller and the Shield Remote together, at a price of $199.99. There's even a cheaper alternative at Amazon where the retailer is said to offer the same bundle at only $175.

"Free remote, a $49.99 value, when you buy Shield Android TV," said NVIDIA.

The company touts the NVIDIA Shield as an "amazing Ultra HD streaming media player, delivering incredible resolution in favorite apps like Netflix 4K, YouTube, KODI (XBMC), and PLEX. Vivid 10-bit color and rich Dolby 7.1 surround sound make this a true home theater experience. Or plug your headphones into your Shield controller or Shield remote for a private listening experience."

When powered by the Android TV, users can experience a number of media content such as hit shows, live sports, blockbuster movies, news, and viral videos inside their homes or across their devices.

"Smart TV boxes powered by Android TV have Google Cast built-in. This is the same technology found on the popular Google Chromecast, so you can cast your favorite entertainment apps from Android, iOS, Mac, Windows, or Chromebook devices to your TV," said NVIDIA.

Likewise, the Shield Remote comes with a microphone that is perfect for executing Google voice commands. It also features a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack (for those who want to listen privately), volume control, Bluetooth, and a battery that can be recharged using a micro USB.

The Shield Controller, which can also be purchased separately at $59.99, is a plug-and-play device that offers gameplay of up to 40 hours with its long-life rechargeable battery and cable. It connects to any Shield device and has been designed meticulously to provide superior gameplay and intuitive menu navigation. Built with an integrated microphone, players can easily search even without typing by simply asking questions, opening the apps, or playing the songs, games and movies.

In line with the limited offer, NVIDIA also came up with a promotional video with the theme #RuleTheLivingRoom. It features the "epic free-fall journey of Jeff Provenzano attempting to #RuleTheLivingRoom. If he can rule the living room from 10,000 feet, imagine what you can do from the comfort of your couch."
