Nest's third generation Learning Thermostat is now available in Europe - mainly in the UK, France, Netherlands, Belgium and the Republic of Ireland. The device, which was first launched in the United States back in September, will cost consumers £199 ($303).

The new Learning Thermostat brings with it a display that is larger compared to previous Nest devices. Furthermore, this one offers two new features that are exclusive to folks in Europe.

The first feature gives you the ability to control your water tank and change its scheduled directly from a Nest-supported mobile device. Furthermore, there's a function called Auto-Way that is designed to conserve energy when the user has been away from home for a couple of days.

The second exclusive feature is called OpenTherm. It can tell how much gas to burn in order to uphold the preferred temperature of the user. Bear in mind that OpenTherm only works with supported boilers.

According to Nest, using the OpenTherm feature is easier than manually turning the boiler on and off because it helps to save energy and can also extend the life of your home's heating system.

One of the cool things about the Nest Learning Thermostat is that it can learn about the user and the user's home. It is capable of automatically programming itself to know the user's schedule and the best temperatures. The device can tell how long it takes for your home to heat up or cool down, and it make these decisions based on the temperature outside.

It is also possible to check on how much energy has been used on a daily basis by checking the Energy History via the Nest app.

Another fascinating thing about this device is that if it senses carbon monoxide (CO), it will automatically shut off the user's heating system, which is a common source of CO leaks.

Everything can be controlled from the official Nest app that is only available on Android and iOS. As per usual, Windows Phone users are left out in the cold.

Folks who are interested in purchasing the Nest Learning Thermostat can check the official Nest store or the over 2,500 retail stores across Europe.
